Kay O. Williams has maintained a woodwind music studio in Bloomington-Normal since 1976 and has taught several hundred young wind players in the local community over the past 38 years. A large percentage of her students successfully audition for all-district and state honor ensembles and participate in district solo and ensemble competitions. A number of her students over the years have gone on to major in music at the college level.
Kay performs on clarinet, saxophone, and flute for community ensembles, church performances, and more recently in the orchestra for IWU’s performance of Gilbert and Sullivan’s Iolanthe and the production of Grassroot 2012. She is often invited as an adjudicator for regional school performance competitions.
Kay studied clarinet with Joseph Carlucci, a student of Stanley Hasty (Eastman School of Music), and holds a Bachelor of Music in Performance degree from Northwestern State University of Louisiana.
